Maya Angelou came by our University,
And my luck just wasn't good.
Though I had planned to go and see her,
Things didn't work out like they could.
You make plans and tell everyone,
And The good lord smiles up high.
Then he shakes his head a bit,
And the wind blows in the sky.
So I didn't get to see Ms. Angelou,
Though I could taste it in my soul.
Maybe the next time when she comes by,
I can hear her words so bold.
But some things can't be replaced,
She is one of a kind.
I 'll always regret that she came by,
And the time I couldn't find.
