Maybe Poem by Emma Hasel

Maybe

I take your hand as you take mine,
from the outside we seem just fine.
We're 'us' now-not you or me,
We pretend that's how it should be.
Oh if everything were as it seemed,
how boring our lives would be.

It's a balanced act of letting go,
Who will say yes if we both say no.
We can't call the shots if they aren't ours to throw,
We won't call bluffs if we already know.
Oh the best poker face never hides,
Because the best poker face isn't a lie.

Lets take it to the next step,
even though there's nothing left.
I'm the actress, you follow my lead,
Look in my eyes like I'm all you need.
Oh if it's this or lonliness we'll take it,
maybe one day we won't have to fake it.
