Maybe Love Is Just Like The Sunset Poem by Nathan Barkley

Maybe Love Is Just Like The Sunset

Hush my dear
Listen to these tears
They scream for us
You are the only one i trust
why did you leave me at dusk?
Where dark creatures come momentarily
Daringly, trying to bond with our hearts

Your voice,
Your scent
With it i was so contempt
But everything is fading
I'm left here waiting
For a forgotten memory
waiting for insanity
maybe
waiting for it to devour me

Wait my dear
bare witness
to this twisted loneliness
and to this overwhelming fear
why am i sinking in this endless sea
locked up deep within the abyss without a key
I lost more than a love
I lost everything that was me
all that is left
is this feeling of regret

Maybe love is just like the sunset
At first so bright full with life
illuminating hearts in the darkest hour
Yet betraying everyone within time
Taking away everyone's power
Falling, slowly yet beautifully into darkness
Until you are destroyed, embracing this sorrow

Thank you for this deceitful show
Yet i must confess
If this is a test
I fail to keep you away
I really just want you to stay
Even if it's a shadow
A ghost of this love
I will keep it within this masochistic heart
Forever remembering
That love
Even if its killing me
Just like a drug
