Mayhem At Dawn Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Mayhem At Dawn

Rating: 5.0

Veil of golden rays over the vista
Rousing fresh cuckoo call, from arboreta
night bloom attar held breezy spa
stunning dawn motif, hoisted spirits by far

Today, in a different turn, at random
it was a shriek, pierced and screeched ear drum
smudging daily painting, in pandemonium
beheld a cluttering plumage in a pool, crimson

Culprit, after trying day after day
prospered today, on its target's bay
Babblers, joyfully pecking day's prey
failed to care peril, at the daybreak still grey

Panicked mates, flocked up on bough
while quivering in terror caught huff
pussycat culprit, hunter in nature's stuff
at distance licks the whack on its back
