Me And My Satan Always Going Along Poem by Mohammad Younus

Me And My Satan Always Going Along

Me and my Satan always going along,
Behind doors, out of doors, never slammed;
Not even hairbreadth apart we are,
But we don't like each other;
My Satan also tells me:
'I don't like you', and adds,
'Unless you follow me'.

He burns my book of guidance to ashes,
And the sparks burn my thatched roof;
I cry because I think that I have become,
A homeless in this world;
How can I save myself in bad weather?
I am alone to fight my foe Satan;
I talk to my God and beseech Him for refuge,
Because I am terrified of echoes of Satanic voices.

I don't want to follow any of the satanic voices;
I just want to feel safe and walk on the divine path,
And be accepted by my Lord in His cool presence;
The house where Satan lives with me cannot be my home.

I am all the way trying to evict Satan from my house, but,
Satan still holds part of my house under his occupation;
He wants to expel me rather from my own home, strange!
I am trying my best to subdue my Satan,
And I am confident that I will undo all his schemes.
