Me, At Seventeen Poem by Kelsey Gallant

Me, At Seventeen

At sixteen years of age
I sailed across the stage
"Congratulations, graduate, " they said
I had completed twelfth grade
I smiled, unafraid
Diploma in my hand, knowledge in my head

I don't focus on my looks
But I've written several books
Many songs, and poetry as well
One of my passions is to teach
Another is outreach
I'm focused on others—can you tell?

My stunning features include
(but are not limited to)
Writing, singing, acting, creating, AND…
Minimizing fights
No-handing on my bike
Helping people out, lending a hand.

As of now, I'm seventeen
And though I'm not a beauty queen
I'm a caring, dedicated volunteer
Serving God in all I do
Being with my family, too
As I finish up my first full college year
