Mediterranean Meditations-29 Poem by Gunturk Ustun

Mediterranean Meditations-29

1

If there is no breakwater
There is neither a jetty
Nor a safe winter for the boats

2

I'm sitting on the silent seashore
Passing through the hills behind me
Is a noisy railroad line that feeds the port

3

The Mediterranean recently declared
That maritime enthusiasm can be
One of the healers of souls wounded at sea

4

I dream the dreams of strolling
But never the ones of stowing away
Since I always pay my sea voyage fare

5

From the north or northeast
Attacking winter cloud masses over the waves
Fortunately, my quilt is thick in the big cabin

6

I thought it was the one and only Aegean Sea
Who called me with one of my short seafaring poems
But it turned out to be the one and only Adriatic Sea

7

Far from the marina, but very close to the port
Some days you wake at dawn to the blare of ship horns
After a cold shower, where is your strong coffee?
