Melioration Poem by Hannington Mumo

Melioration

In search of purer hearts you may go
Beyond the confines of average pride,
Where eyes smile with genuine shine,
Where lips stand with the truthful side.

Looking for deeper peace you may find
The talk of urban nabobs rather unkind,
Or their ill-whistling follies too unncouth,
Or their mimicked ways outright untruth.

Loathing mediocrity's yelping shame
You might toss your legs farther away,
From the hard norms of unknowing knaves,
From unseeing blokes and their blinded say.

And in pursuit of that brighter tomorrow
You shall run from all cares and sorrow,
From all gloomy circumstances like those,
From folks who cheaper prospects choose.

Shopping for a really elegant gown,
You'll turn many inferior ones down.
