Meme Quand Je Te Tiens. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Meme Quand Je Te Tiens. (Translation) .

Je me detache.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a subtle poem about short-term love. Even as she holds him in her arms, she thinks of him as not there: he has gone far away. The man has brown eyes, black hair, and smiled a lot: but all of that could be for somebody else. She thinks of the image of a revolving door to describe how he has departed from hel life, changed. I think that the revolving door is a standout image, the sort of which Ezra Pound wrote, that it is better to think of one brilliantimage, than to write whole volumes.
The lyric concludes, 'I am letting go'.
