Memoirs Of A Geisha Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

Memoirs Of A Geisha

In Kyoto land of cherry blossoms and silk,
Where beauty was prized above all else,
A young girl named Chia began her journey,
To become a geisha, graceful and poised.

With porcelain skin and dark hair in a bun,
She practiced the arts of dance and song,
Intriguing the wealthy and powerful,
Who would seek her company all night long.

But behind the façade of glamour and luxury,
Lay the struggles of a young girl trying to fit in,
The pressures of tradition and society,
Weighing heavy on her delicate skin.

Yet Chia persevered, with grace and elegance,
Honing her craft with every passing day,
And soon she became a renowned geisha,
Whose presence left all in awe and dismay.

She danced with the lightness of a feather,
Her voice like a nightingale's sweet song,
And when she walked, it was with a regal air,
That left all who saw her feeling strong.

But beneath it all, Chia remained humble,
Remembering her roots and where she came from,
And when she looked in the mirror at night,
She saw the same girl, just a little more refined.

So here's to Chia, the young geisha,
Who found her place in a world of beauty and art,
May her legacy live on in the memories,
Of all those whose lives she touched with her heart.
