Memories In Frame Poem by Ndina Kamaro Muofhe

Memories In Frame

Memories in frames
Like names in the hall of fame
Broken hearts burning in pain's flames
Curses to a minute that sowed this shame

Caskets descend and bodies disappear
Flesh rot and and worms feast
Only time is immortal and life is temporary
And when it's over, feelings are left with wounds
Tears flood faces and they dry
But the bruises of soul last long before healing

So, I stand lost within my gaze
To the precious times hanging on the walls
When yesterday was joy's dwelling place
Before the feelings met this bleakness

Amazing grace is not a song to sing
For what is amazing by holes on the poor feelings?
What is amazing from a sad moment?
In this world, nobody is born a wretch
We become because of choices of hearts
We are angels in prisons of men
Where freedom is gained through death

Memories in frames
Like names in the hall of fame
Broken hearts burning in pain's flames
Curses to a moment tat sowed this shame

Do shooting stars touch the ground?
Do they fall and drown in the oceans?
If not, where do they disappear to?

I've already told you that angels are not in heaven
So, I say because I've dined with many
By my eyes I have seen them
With these ears, I've listened to them talk
In these streets I've met a lot

This one I write for flesh swallowed by caskets
Wondering what happen to their spirits
Spirits baptized in rivers of merits
Do they wander seeking for another body to live in?
Where exactly do angels go when they die?

Is there a heaven beneath our feet
Where coffins enter when they descend?
Is there a heaven beyond the stars and the moon
Beyond the horizon where our eyes can't reach?

Memories in frames
Like names in the hall of fame
Broken hearts burning in pain's flames
Curses to a minute that sowed this shame

They are bridges to connect us
With those relatives from unreachable distance
Though voices we never get to hear
And bodies we never get to touch and see anymore,
These bridges never burn
Even when blunts are turning to ashes
Solid they stand carrying us through

Sometimes, it's pain they provoke
Sometimes it is smiles they give
