Memories, O Souvenirs Poem by Hebert Logerie

Memories, O Souvenirs

Rating: 4.3

Memories of the sunny days
Memories of the lunar nights
Memories of your sweet kisses
Memories of the thundering laughters.

Memories of your big smiles
Memories of the stormy nights
Memories of nice words to say
Memories of the fall flowers.

Memories of the holiday afternoons
On the beaches or beside the dense rivers
Memories, souvenirs of yesteryear
Memories, remembrances of a proud past.

Memories of our country humiliated
And vilified by our treacherous brothers
Memories of many deadly earthquakes
Great reminders that we are dust.

Souvenirs, I have many souvenirs
Which can make us shudder or blush
Remembrances as we recite litanies
Memories of countless destroyed lives.

Memories of our country in agony
Wrapped in the shroud of shame
Memories of our brave soldiers and ancestors
Who have sacrificed so much for being what we have become.

Memories of our contaminated streams
By the so-called watchmen of our freedom
Remembrances, souvenirs, I have too many dreams
Which prevent my defiant soul to hit rock bottom.
