Mental Cure Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Mental Cure

Thoughts without words've no potency
It's in the wholesomeness of words, that thoughts are animated
For to that, the dead've no words
And their thoughts can't be active among the living

To memory, words must be committed
Thoughts archived for posterity
For in the annuls of history, power is recycled
We know the wheels of statecraft turn freely
On the ignorance of the great unwashed

It's the deadness of thought, to consider the dead as potent
Outside of their importance in the history of life
Words of the dead are mere imaginations by the thoughtless mortals
For the corrupt politicians is the equivalence of the dead to the honest wise
