Merry Christmas Towne Crier Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Merry Christmas Towne Crier

Rating: 5.0

Dismiss the masses if you will
The opiate infused minds
Your chalkboard calculations
Contempt for this foolish mankind

A disdain concealed by flattery
A patronizing derisive tone
A summation of all humanity
A sham known by you alone

The scientific soliloquy is spoken
Behold cold calculated truth
The believer's logic is broken
Embrace a faith void of proof

The town crier and his lantern
Presume to shed the light
Declaring all that he has learned
An enlightened beacon of the night

Allowing that his words are true
That the need is the obvious seed
I still say Merry Christmas to you
Now return all the love you receive!
