Mesmer Poem by Ima Ryma

Being mesmerized is to be
Spellbound, and the term really came
From Franz Anton Mesmer, and he
In 1700's got fame
In France for using magnets to
Treat any and all maladies,
So gravitating force might do
A pulling out of the disease,
During which the patient would go
Into a calming trance like state,
So that healing forces could flow,
With powers to alleviate.

Though Mesmer was deemed but a whim,
Modern hypnosis comes from him.
