Messing With Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Messing With

Messing with

Was on road when I heard
-an anchor, John Tash, named
-talk of food and eaters
-out and in restaurant
-clients' and servers' relations
-and the mal treatments:
-as if the servers are
-some horses and slaves…
-not people, respected, equal

Show was long and ended in what I
-had heard of many times
- "They will mess with the food…"
-angry, if server, can do things:
-as bad as to spit…

And that is what I heard
-of one of partners in Dubai
- "When I was angry…
-touched the food with finger …
-after pee…"

On one hand, want to say:
- "Such people deserve get,
- ‘give and take'! "

On other, mean to ask:
- "What about forgiveness? ! "

Saw tonight, and last night
-what added to knowledge
-it is not so simple!

Her skin had turned pale
-as if a walking dead; unable
-to speak what she meant

The big part of her tips
-paper bills
-that she left on counter
-was not there
And tonight another
-complaint different

"This is their natural way…"
-young girl of India, a server
-worriedly explained…

The boys come and order
-make much noise
-mess table
-and no tip
-their demands keep coming
-for tissue and water and the rest

"You must be students…"
-I told them with respect
-and waited for answer
-was confirmed

"These girls are like you so
-respect them, treat them equal
-see them as classmates
-and that is what they are…"

I told girl of the show
-and messing with the food
-she knew
- "Don't have it in blood! "
-she told me (If didn't pretend!)

The girl was worried of
-my approach, involvement

Boys listened
-lowered voice
-apologised
-soon after
-at time of closure
-they parted…

I leave the words here
-are here to remain
-for others…"Remember! "
