Metamorphosis Poem by Stan Rodriguez

Metamorphosis

Rating: 5.0

Dark and dirty were the bar stools
and no one seem to care
We came disjointed
desperate to consume the liquid of the day
It seems that life is not enough
and so, we travel here from our own sanity

Anticipating the next move
the big chest players play

and there with tensions high
we move from left to right
the beer was poured with no complaints
it's cold it hits the sport

and so, we traveled to your lips
drinking them in with what is left
of half sobered eyes

as we continue the pace of wanting
to be young again
and knowing what we know now

Another beer and we are nearly there
wrinkles vanish—smiles brighten
the tension lessens.

Last Call and so we travel on
some hand in hand and some alone.

as we await the next evening's metamorphosis
to come again.
