Candy-canes and ice cream bars
and Christmas trees and Santa
are dreams and wish—near or far
made especially for children.
Kisses and a warm embrace—on the other hand are serious
they're made for those in search of love
and crave a little nearness.
For those of us that have lived just a little longer
we're past these needs and fancies—seeking
only happiness and love—to share with our children.
