Mind Game Poem by Ranju Mozammel Haque

Mind Game

I tip toe toward you,
But fail to hide my bleak appearance.
Is it my gloom that hangs over the night sky?
I know not - but it happens, always!

You play mind game with my mind.

Your eyes craft a look of utter ignorance.
And your impish lips start to speak evil of my virile existence.
You lure, but keep me distant at bay.
I begin to lose my forte going halfway toward you -
And I utter things that I should not say.

You play mind game with my mind.

A forlorn lover that I am,
Fail miserably to intrude your dubious soul!
Else, how could you ignore - thy love,
With the sharp odium you bore!
My bravado intimidates you more,
And it doubles trouble!

You play mind game with my mind.

A lukewarm smile gives my pain a new name.
It provokes lunacy in me and I hold you tender,
Though vicariously!
I shiver and shudder in my stupor.
Finally I melt in cold when warmth is a touch away -
You inflict tricks to distant me more.

You play mind game with my mind.

You and I do not cohort or cope!
We are born misfits with no hope to get close!
We keep on living our resolute lives -
When rain is so near we suffer and surrender
To our own little vibes.

You can read my mind, surely
Yet you struggle to stay tranquil-
Yet you prefer to play mind game with me -
And with you yourself!
