'Mine' Is Only A Temporary Victory Poem by Raj Dronamraju

'Mine' Is Only A Temporary Victory

She sighed with the orgasm of ownership
What it meant to make a claim on a male
This excitement has no future visualizations, no plans for extension
And past effort is immediately forgotten

I invite all creatures from the present
To stare deeply into my heart
It's translucent and is for all intents and purposes a hologram
You can't touch it
You can't take it for yours

"My man" is her demand for identity
The horse with the best odds to win the derby
I owned a microwave oven and after two years it stopped working so I bought a new one
I owned an automobile and I kept it until the mileage was too high then I traded in for a new one

She'll keep him close until the components of affection wear out
What was once loveable is now annoying
There's no cache in their continued association
All who classify themselves as owners will be forever unsatisfied
