Mining For Gold~ Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Mining For Gold~

Rating: 5.0

Excuse me for a moment
Clear the fog you're in a hurry
Let me peer into your eyes
Open all your doors and windows
Find a way to come outside

Although you will not know it
A misplaced glance betrays you
An octave in your voice reveals you
How many colors conceal you
Before your hue is truly you

I am mining for gold you see
Inside the mine of the people I meet
Are you a gem or a flash in the pan
Pyrite or something real
True awareness is what I feel

People aren't so hard to read
For better or for worse
In varying shades of black or white
I ask for your sake what you are
A common sod or a superstar? !

Good poem, Edmund. I think all of us have some gold inside. All too often we ignore the golden well of love and kindness in our heart and think thoughts, do things speak words in disharmony with our soul. Then of course we feel not good about the lack of harmony and want to hide it from the world. Why not listen in the first place to our soul and let the golden well of love and kindness freely flow. Just writing some thoughts that were welling :) up after reading this excellent and thought provoking poem. Well done!

What a creative piece of writing. Your insight is truly deep. How cleverly you develop the idea of a poem. Digging deep into the soul of things n people is hard work but i'm sure you are gonna find the gold you are looking for. lol. Loved it. A huge 10.

Yes! ! What food for thought lies within these skilfully written verses. This poem caused me to reflect on my own relationships and how I perceive others when I first meet them. Although you will not know it A misplaced glance betrays you An octave in your voice reveals you These lines made me reflect on your intuitive nature. Sometimes for me its like feeling people out from the inside. I love the mining for gold metaphor in the third verse. And then in the last two lines I ask for your sake what you are a common sod or a superstar? ! I detect a little humour here I guess most of us are somewhere in between But it leaves us wondering................. Captivating subject and poem Edmund.
