Miser Poem by Francis Duggan

Miser

One of the town's wealthiest people a multi millionaire
Yet he is one who does seem burdened by care
With his money he is one who is quite miserly
He is one who is afflicted by mind poverty
There is nothing about him that is compassionate and kind
Wealthy materially and financially but poor in his mind
I have yet to see him with a smile on his face
He never brings joy with him to any place
Estranged from his son and his daughter in their early twenties and divorced from his wife
The multi millionaire lives a miserable life
His money is his prisoner do not ask him for a lend
He feels he is poor and does not have a friend
Quite shabbily dressed and looking quite sad
One would swear that life has been treating him bad.
