Missing Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Missing

Rating: 5.0

Searching for that certain something
In the darkness of the night
Prying the shadows for revealing light

I call your name expectantly to no avail
Absent is the feeling of being whole
Emptiness fills my unattended soul

Conjecturing the worst scenario
Mind motions take control
Suffocating worry takes its toll

Getting restful sleep is doubtful
Hourly chime sounds intensify fears
Anxiety is climbing as dawn nears

Stirring without the comfort of warmth
Opening the door to a bewildering haze
Deafening silence clouds the morning rays

Trying to shake off feelings of despair
A robotic rhythm begins the daily routine
Gaining consolation from soothing caffeine

Rechecking the view from the front porch…
Instantly an image reassuringly appears
Your meowing is a delightful sound to my ears
