Wearing robes of piety
Religious men pretend
Purity of heart maybe
But Greed is their main end.
Labels tied to their name
Cones of dogma on their head,
Phylacteries and fame-
But Truth is nowhere said.
Religion plays games with men
Done in the days of old
So that in Christ Truth was given
That what God wants may be told.
And now Religion makes men fools,
Succeeds in blinding them away!
Money's their god and that's their rules
One monsignor was caught today.
Hypocrisy that still traps many
Who thirst for God Whom they might meet
Religion can divert so shrewdly
Unless the Word guides our feet.
