Mom, I Want To Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Mom, I Want To

Rating: 3.5

'Mom I want to disclose to you'
Confide you alone for being very much true
Will you forgive me if I unknowingly commit sin?
But it had been my observation since

Mother was surprised to hear
Her doctor son was speaking with little fear
Words were spoken like parrot
Mother felt surprised and waited to hear about

'My dispensary is not running well'
For many days I wanted to speak it or tell
Today I have gathered little strength to speak
My feet crumble and tongue feels weak

'Any special reason you have found out son'?
'Can you site me any example or reason'
Mother eagerly posed a question and waited
'It is all about your face when I see you while going to clinic' he stated

Mom it will be better if you avoid you audience
I shall prosper there after if you stop at once
I shall propose or take you to old age home
There you need not wait for me and welcome

She got shocked and could find no answer as what to reply
She stared at his face but answer was known or implied
I shall search the solution and mother retired to room
Her face had turned pale and then descended the gloom

She had collected money in one of the bags as courtesy
Her son used to give her everyday some money
She called her daughter and advised her to hand over
The bag to son and seriously thought about her

I cried while listening to some preacher
He was narrating it as soul searcher
This has become day to day occurrence
We come across such tale daily at once

not only mothers, but also the fathers must prepare themselves to face the shocks! it is too sad to see these parents in the old folk homes, but sometimes the professional children who have loans and mortgages, have no choice. I hope they will visit their parents as often as they can..in Asian culture it is a shame to the family as a whole if the parents are not cared by their children! What to do?
