Moment Of Appreciation Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Moment Of Appreciation

Caring and loving for those in love that have no one to
care for them.

Left alone in darkened and lonely rooms, no one to talk
to, nothing to ever get excited about.

A dull life with an equally dull routine that is practiced
every day without thought.

Strictly taking care and watching, seeing a shy and timid
smile, apologetically shining from within their souls and
onto the one who has given them a moment to be appreciated.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

This is a tender poem of fellowship with those forgotten due to sickness or old age or loss of family. It is a summons for us to create the kind of environment we will want for ourselves when we are in a similar plight. And that's not being self-serving - it's being holistic and recognizing we all have a service to render to others when we can so that service is rendered to us when we are helpless. This is a poem that gently summons us to be HUMAN.
