Moonlit © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Moonlit ©

How sweetly the moon, she sails on a cloud,
A beautiful Queen, yet gentle not proud;
Her pendant of pearl, throws light on her face,
reflecting her wisdom, infinite grace.

Her necklace of stars, is sky mined sapphire,
Speckling the night, with sparks of blue fire;
Her gown of pure velvet, is deep midnight blue,
edged with black ribbons, of darkest hue.

She sails over seas and gazes below
at her reflection that shares her sweet glow;
She drifts over forests and lights up the trees,
That shimmer and glisten, diamonds on breeze.

She beams down on lovers, made bold by her light,
to revel in joys turned silver by night;
She blesses the children, asleep in their beds,
and tucks gentle dreams in their little heads;

She smiles on the earth, silent and sleeping,
Nights precious secrets are safe in her keeping.
