More Questions? ? ? Poem by Barry Van Allen

More Questions? ? ?

Rating: 5.0

There is an argument about which truth is right,
in one way I am tending towards ' the truth is what it is! ',
... and in another way...
I have seen so many truthful things, that I am asking...

In my experience, have I determined that the truth,
is just one thing?
Perspective is a harbinger of truth, as we now know it,
but, when perspective changes,
does the truth change right along with it?

The argument persists, within my thoughts,
how do you see the next?
and how does one see the past that way?
... What does the truth define?
and what does that mean to you?

One man's treasure is a torture,
one man's torture is a pleasure,
one man's ecstasy is hell,
and one man's hell,
is what another one desires.

And does the truth define it all?
... and who says that it does?

ahh...Barry, your philosophical questions have puzzled Man eternally! Have you been reading Plato's Allegory of the Cave? What is reality? What is truth, and what false images are we shown that we don't even question? A solid 10 from me (or is it? I'd give you more if I could) -chuck

Truth....that elusive critter that keeps us searching. Every time we think we've caught up with it and it's right around the corner...***poof*** it's gone again. What exactly is truth...and who should define it? ? I think it is more often easier to determine...that which is not truthful. Great idea for a poem...I like the part about perspective...one person's Hell is another's pleasure. Hugs, Dee
