Has mercy forgotten humanity
or has nature forgotten mercy?
has time lost its magnificence
of has calamities gained its momentum?
so many episodes of pain and sorrow
as floodwaters broke dams and smashed thro
the neighborhoods of Dema in Libya
causing deaths and damage so vast
and so unpredictable as thousands are missing,
as bodies and cars are seen strewn everywhere
as if life has no value or valor
that a flood suddenly takes away lives so pitilessly,
leaving so many homeless and hungry
as their houses have fallen apart due to floodwaters
thus devastating their entire existence and stability.

And while an earthquake
of high magnitude struck
the Atlas Mountains in Morocco,
so many dead and so many buried,
thus making everyone to rush to save lives
and to dig out survivors from the rubble
in those mountain villages
of the southwest of Marrakesh;
how could mercy not cast its eyes
and prevent such catastrophe
which damaged so many houses
thus crushing people under their own roofs?

Are these the pitiless plans of disaster or nature
which no man can ever foresee or anticipate
yet when it happens it wrecks the existence
of the people and their families
who have no alternative but to confront it
and bear the sorrow, the pain, the sufferings
and the inconvenience that they start to face
all so suddenly as they rush out
to escape to safety
and they can never regain their
past tranquility and unity
as lives lost, harm caused
is a situation so tough to manage?

And to accept and adjust to calamities
of such high degrees is so challenging
as life is one big reality
which consistently offers many phases
of joys and unhappiness
but when people have to adjust
to a gigantic calamity or catastrophe,
families and children get so stranded
and time moves back the clock
which otherwise always moved ahead
with peace, providence and progress;
but catastrophes like earthquakes and floods
devastate and destroy harmony
taking men thro immense trauma
and before he can even think to
re-construct and re-structures his life
the pain, the sorrow, the grieving,
the injury and harm to his existence and unity
becomes so unbearable and unforgettable
that only solidarity and prayers can yield relief.
