Mortal Love Poem by Arun Maji

Mortal Love

Rating: 5.0

Mine is a mortal love-
made of
thirst and hunger,
craving and desire,
impatience and anger.

Mine is a-
mortal love of a mortal being,
fleshy love of a fleshy being,
bloody love of a bloody being.
Is that a surprise to you?

whenever I see your garden,
I feel like plundering it.
whenever I see your sweet river
I feel like swallowing it.

I am always
hunting you, craving you.
Always.

Spent and exhausted
when I fall asleep in night-
I see your beautiful naked garden
with fruits waving at me, flowers smiling to me.
Their aroma, their colour, their contour,
they all make me wild and impatient.
My heart aches longing to eat your tenderness.
My soul cries longing to drink your sweetness.

I never can trust myself
in your inviting presence.
Your thirsty eyes turn me to a pounding wolf,
your juicy lips turn me to a hungry bull,
your golden valley turns me to a wild ox
who wants to plunder everything he sees.

I never can be decent
in your delightful presence.
Heaven or hell, does not bother me;
sin or virtue, does not bother me;
suffering or death, does not bother me.

For your flesh,
I am ready to suffer an eternity of damnation.
For your fragrance,
I am ready to die and decay, in dungeon of hell.

Call me a beast if you like,
call me a leech if you like,
call me anything you like.
But I am what I am.
I am a mortal being with mortal love.
A love full of desire for flesh and blood.

But remember,
it's not just anyone's flesh and blood.
It's, only your flesh and blood.
Yours, only yours.
