Mosquitoes Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Mosquitoes

Damn Mosquitoes

They are here
making sure you hear
the spawning of suckers of blood
growing in the mud.

They live
when you grieve
sustaining their bloodline
to be alive

Sucking blood
causing malady
you feel tired
thinking you should be retired

because it is hot and humid
stabbing with arrows like Cupid
who himself, has fallen in love
destroying you as he comes

like a bomber made of wood
being bad but good
at what it does for you
resolving equations
but complicating questions

of a vector
from an unknown sector
giving disease
with ease

There is a mosquito
on your toe
In the tropical heat
sucking blood from meat.

Your face, fingers and toes
the damn mosquitoes!
