Most Memorable Phrase Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Most Memorable Phrase

What unforgettable phrase
Is the most impressive
Words that will be remembered
As being the most expressive

After a discussion and a counting of hands
The multitude of phrases were added to
Beliefs and views kept mounting into a heap
The long extending list grew and grew

A serious controversy emerged
No one on the committee could agree
Stay as cool as a cucumber I implored
Hold your horses… patience is key

Being in the position of decision
Is almost as difficult as giving birth
Somehow we have to compromise
So kindly put in your two cents worth

Nothing is certain expect death and taxes
After hours… the solution is nowhere to find
Some of us are no longer playing with a full deck
This expedition is like the blind leading the blind

The selection was taking forever and a day
Each person wanted to paddle his or her own canoe
Grinning like a Cheshire cat I proclaimed
I know just what to do!

We have been on a wild goose chase
There is more than one answer to our stalemate
Let’s place all the phrases into one big hat
We’ll shake it well and the choice will be great!

Resigned to the suggestion there was an agreement
This simple solution would be a piece of cake
Covering my eyes… I reach in to satisfied curiosity
The slip of paper read…'All is well that ends well…'
