Mother's Children Poem by Ronald Strickland

Mother's Children

Rating: 3.0

From the sugar cane fields,
along a dusty dirt road,
in a small house in Georgia.
To the cotton mills of Dalton,
with her children of five,
she strives to survive,
with her children by her side.
With her children of age,
and with the strength and values she gave,
time had come for her
to be where the angels stayed.
Her children,
go into their own lives,
different roads each would take,
taking with them the values
that their mother gave.
To stand together until
angels come to take.
Keeping our children
from life's mistakes.
Each to have a better life
and hold to the values that their mother gave.
