majestic mountain
steadfast against life's tempests
strengthens the spirit
This is a wonderful evocation of mountains. It's not about mountains as a challenge to be climbed, that is, conquered. It's conveying a sense of partnership with mountains - their massive solidity, so different from our small and fragile stature, can still inspire us to fulfill our potential. It's like a couplet by Blake (I don't have it complete) - GREAT THINGS HAPPEN WHEN MEN AND MOUNTAINS MEET. Well, your poem gives one of those results of the human/mountain interaction!

I would like to translate this poem
mountains as our refuge and inspiration. When I walk down our fairly steep road, I see the low mountains of the Pennines spread out like a greeting. Now I shall also think of your haiku on my next walk. I loved this. Mihaela. Er I spelled your name wrongly in my previous comment. Forgive me. Tom Billsborough
