What does betrayal mean to you?
Dishonesty, disloyalty or just plain deception?
But how can something so complex be described in just one word?
One night that all it takes, one lousy bad decision, and suddenly years later, you're still facing your conviction.
Convicted of the crime of rape, only thing is you're the victim,
but somehow it got turned around and now it's facing your direction.
Do you face it or back down? If only I knew then what I know now…
One night that leads to a lifetime that strips your identity and dignity.
And happiness? No, that no longer exists in me.
Exiled into a world where you lose your soul and inner essence.
Leaving you with nothing but the regret of your existence.
A good start with a nice poem, Amy K. You may like to read my poem, Love And Iust. Thank you.

There are two aspects of betrayal, one is through errors of omission which is pardonable. The other is through errors of commission - a premeditated attempt to hurt which is beyond pardon. Your poem is an insightful piece, well articulated and nicely penned. A nice creation. Thanks for sharing Amy and do remain enriched.
