Muddy Water Poem Poem by Lacie Hebert

Muddy Water Poem

We loved like rivers running blind,
No clear direction left to find.
The water dark, the current strong,
We couldn't tell what felt right or wrong.

You pulled me under, pulled me close, The kind of love that hurts the most. Not sharp at first, but slow and deep, The kind that lingers when you sleep.

I couldn't see what lay beneath,
Just pretty lies and borrowed belief.
And every step I took toward you
Only made the water untrue.

But rivers leave when storms are done, And clarity returns with sun. And I was not the one to drown—
I learned to walk and not look down.
