I entered a country club estate.
Folks stood on a dinner table.
I was dispatched to a rattlesnake call.
I'd remove it if I was able.
But then I spied a coral snake
Underneath a dining room chair.
'What had I walked into' I thought.
I felt more like leaving there.
The creek had risen above flood height
From a torrential mighty storm.
Let's say that after a long drought
This weather was not the norm.
But when you wear the uniform
And a citizen calls you for help
You tuck your fears between your legs
And you tighten your gun belt.
And while they shivered on table top
I got my shovel and a rake.
Then I proceeded to remove those two
Most deadly of all snakes.
My next call was a gator call
On top of a chain link fence.
It had tried to eat two small noisy dogs
Who were some people's family pets.
Some duct tape and some rope I used
Then I dragged it toward a tree.
And after securing that big boy,
I called the Game Warden out to me.
A herd of cows burst through a fence
And stopped traffic on a main highway.
I used my sirens and bull horns,
To scare the cows to their farm that day.
A Law Enforcement Officer
Doesn't only go after crime.
They are multi purpose soldiers,
Knowing not what will come next time.
