Multitasking Hearts Poem by Ghazala Lari

Multitasking Hearts

Rating: 5.0

In this modern age, a trend has emerged,
Multiple dating, where hearts are submerged.
Seeking satisfaction, a constant desire,
To feel the high, to set hearts on fire.

Choosing a partner, it's never too late,
But the addiction persists, it doesn't abate.
Even after the vows, the ring on our hand,
We still search for a soulmate, a love so grand.

Satisfaction eludes, it's a nomadic guest,
Only found in books, where meaning is best.
Yearning for love that's unwavering and pure,
While lying beside a spouse, who seems too sure.

This madness of lust, mixed with romantic chase,
Leads some to divorce, a bitter embrace.
But who cares about those who come and go,
As long as satisfaction is found in the throes.

Today it's one, tomorrow another's embrace,
Multitasking hearts, a workaholic's race.
Hope never fades, always a new morning,
To start the search, to keep hearts adorning.

Months and years pass, relationships turn stale,
To revive the flame, multiple dating prevails.
But this constant seeking, this endless quest,
Leaves us longing, never fully at rest.

In this world of fleeting connections and affairs,
True love becomes scarce, lost in the snares.
Yet within the chaos, there's a glimmer of hope,
That one day, we'll find love that helps us cope.

So let us step back, reflect on this path,
And seek a love that will stand the test, unscathed.
For in the end, it's not about quantity or flair,
But finding a love that's genuine and rare.

Explanation of the above poem
In this day and age, the dating scene seems to have taken on a whole new meaning. Gone are the days when individuals would exclusively date one person at a time, hoping to find the one. Nowadays, it's not uncommon for people to be in multiple relationships or engage in casual hookups. The idea is that the more people you date, the higher the chances are of finding someone who truly suits you. While this approach might seem practical, it often leads to a lack of commitment and emotional attachment.

One of the main issues with this trend is that it blurs the lines between love and lust. In the pursuit of satisfaction, individuals may end up prioritizing physical attraction and momentary gratification over building a deep connection with another person. This can lead to a cycle of never-ending search for the perfect partner, as one relationship ends, another begins almost immediately. The constant need for validation and approval can be exhausting, leaving people feeling emotionally drained and unfulfilled.

Another problem with this multiple dating culture is that it can lead to infidelity and broken trust. When individuals are not committed to one person exclusively, they may be more likely to stray from their current relationship. This not only hurts the person who has been betrayed, but it also erodes the trust that is essential for any healthy relationship.

It's important to remember that true love is not about quantity but rather quality. Finding a partner who is compatible with you on an emotional, intellectual, and spiritual level is what truly matters. This kind of connection takes time to develop, and it cannot be forced. It is possible to find happiness in a monogamous relationship where both partners are committed to each other's growth and well-being.

In conclusion, while the modern dating scene may seem exciting and liberating, it's important to be mindful of its potential pitfalls. By focusing on quality over quantity, and being open to building deep connections with one person at a time, individuals can increase their chances of finding lasting happiness and true love.
