Musical Solution Poem by Edwina Reizer

Musical Solution

A thought crept into my mind today
and stayed there much too long.
I could not rid myself of it,
the power of it much too strong.

I tried to replace it hour by hour
but failure was with me.
Each time I tried to replace it,
it displayed its liberty.

It would not be shackled or driven out.
It roamed freely in my brain.
The only way I knew to remove it
so it would not remain

was to drown it out with music,
chords and melody.
And as I played and soothed my mind
it disappeared finally.
