Must Keep Thinking Poem by Edwina Reizer

Must Keep Thinking

These wheels in my brain
just keep on turning
and as they turn
they keep me yearning.
For there's so much to know
and times moves too fast.
Will my brain keep working?
Oh please let it last.
My dad got dementia
and he would forget.
What are my chances?
Is it Russian roulette?

I do crossword puzzles
and write everyday.
I listen to people
to remember what they say.
I make myself lists
and write things down.
I listen to music
and all sounds around.
At the end of my day
I find that I pray
for my wheels to keep turning
and never stop burning
for there's still so much to know.
