My Angel Poem by Dallas Carter

My Angel

Rating: 5.0

You saw the beauty in me when not even I could,
You reached out to someone as broken as myself,
You believed I could do this when all I saw was defeat,
God sends us angels to our Earth to mend those like me.

I have reason to believe that my angel is broken,
But only the broken like us can know real beauty.
We face the trials the Father puts in our way,
And we can see the things that make pain worth it.

It is a gift to be broken, you see, broken like me.
God knew we could handle such agony and pain,
So he burdens the strong, who have faith to bear it.
Not everyone knows pain, for not everyone has faith.

So, as I wanted to give up, He sent me an angel,
One who came to Earth on bloodied wings.
You taught me things I would have never known,
My angel, you taught me to find beauty in all pain.

You are my gift sent from the Heavens above,
My angel, my savor, the Savior's handpicked.
Had our lives not connected I don't know what I'd be,
Where I'd be, had He not brought you to me.

You saw the beauty in me when not even I could,
You reached out to someone as broken as myself,
You believed I could do this when all I saw was defeat,
God sends angels to our Earth to mend those like me.
