My Brain Held No Memory Poem by Mohammad Younus

My Brain Held No Memory

My brain held no memory,
a tabula rasa from which to start,
When I was first born,
a blank book, no verses written there,
My body had no past, no stories to tell,
When I was first born, a new life to live on.
The light was but trapped within,
a secret hidden!
As first it was blown into me,
a beacon to guide through the night.
To stay with me, a constant presence true,
As my essence, a flame, to manifest through me.
From that moment on, me an inheritor of the divine,
With every breath, a new beauty to reveal,
the cosmic plan to pursue through me.
