My Captor's Betrayal Poem by Ziyanda KUBONI

My Captor's Betrayal

In and out of time
Sucking on a lime
The taste of dear old bitter life
Stab wounds from a knife
That I had earlier held so tenderly
Behind the curtains he had maliciously
Strangled me as if he was caressing my neck
Oh what a wreck!
What a tragedy to be held captive by my own love
Fighting to escape hell's fire
Hoping he sets me free like a dove.
But I could never trust him because he is a diabolical liar
Deceit and manipulation runs in his blood
His web of lies have left a defect
I crawl on the mud
Pining and cursing my fate because now, I am a reject
Stuck in the motion of time
With only a paper and pen to my rescue
Drawing my strength from each rhyme
Starting life anew
Bearing scars as a reminder of your betrayal
But more than that as evidence of my strength
