My Cares - Poem by Gordon Jerome

Am I such a bad man
An insensitive old man
As people claim me to be
I would give you my shirt
And absorb your worst hurt
If the chance were given to me

With those I know I have shared
To show how much for their cared
I think I’ve proven it time after time
But still their hurtful words sting
While in my ears they still ring
Is my caring so awful a crime

I guess I’m too out of touch
With all of your feelings as such
That mistakes I have too often made
Please forgive this insensitive man
For caring for you all that I can
As the hurt you feel I hope will fade.
‘closing thought”
Remember your type of help might for others just hinder
Try their fire not to feed but help them put out its last cinder
