My Cat Sighs Poem by Sheena Blackhall

My Cat Sighs

Rating: 5.0

My cat sighs,
‘I want to be a celebrity
I deserve to have fan letters sent
From Katmandu

A pretty thing like me, with my allure
Rainbows should take my name

I am far more photogenic
Than Landseer's stag

I'm talking subversion
At night you'll hear me scream
As I whip my tail in feline S & M
I'm pure purr, spit and scratch

Who'd hang Van Gogh's
Sunflowers on the wall
When they could have me,
Full frontal, by Frances Bacon
Giving it large

Stroke me- the static's fantastic
I crackle like chili crisps

Sometimes I dream I'm Audrey Hepburn
Swathed with fur, all dewy-eyed, delicious
Or Jack the Ripper, gralloching rats on the sly

I was born to Samba,
To strut my stuff

Look into my eyes
I'm Svengali, on four pronged paws
Stare into the wild, the raw
