My Chase With The Monster Poem by Bishnupada Sethi

My Chase With The Monster

I was worried terribly-
I kept on running though.
The gap was closing
In between
As the monster was pursuing constantly.
His loud cries were deafening.

Sweating and palpitating
With prayers on the lips
I wasn't sure
If the chase would continue indefinitely
Or soon I'd falter
To be mauled over.
He would love to see
My blood stream dried out.

Am I still in sleep?
No more I'm sprinting.
No more worries disturb me.
I'm in a milieu of people
Known and many more unknown.
The hushed voice jostle
With the cool breeze blowing
From across the sea.
A sedate moon shines from the above
At this late night hours while
The monster lie on the ground.
His stern look gives a feel-
He is only in a deep sleep.
In a mixed feeling of beliefs and disbeliefs
I wonder as I gazed him
If my battle was over!

There's an inner voice
Wafting from all around-
It's time to give a quiet farewell
To the fear inside.
Life is a great gift.
Do good, be kind.
Monster would always be there
But won't rule over this earth-
It's the order.
