My Dad Was A Vet Poem by Randy McClave

My Dad Was A Vet

My dad was a vet
To that fact he did not regret,
For our country he patriotically fought.

My dad was not a writer
He was instead a freedom fighter,
With pride and honor he brought.

My dad stood by our flag
By it, it never did once sag,
Freedom was because of it he sought.

My dad proudly served
He was never unpatriotic or unnerved,
Even when bullets he had caught.

My dad never did run or hide
Or cheated or ran away or lied,
Where he came from he never forgot.

My dad was a proud vet
His flag still fly's at sunset,
Flying over a soldiers forever plot.
