My Debt Poem by Randy McClave

My Debt

I am prepared to pay for my sins
But, like tickets they were all tossed in bins,
I have paid for every ticket ever received
Then my violation was forgiven, I believed.
I have paid all fines which I have ever owed
Whenever I was on life's road.

I might break the law or commit a sin today
Maybe I will speed or cheat or lie again I might say,
But, I will pay off that debt one day soon
Who knows I might wait until December or maybe June.
Why to pay off my debt should I be in a hurry
So, I never fret or worry.

I have thought more and more about my trespasses
As time and memories and endeavors passes,
And how I should pay them off maybe even tomorrow
Though my mind and my soul are full of sorrow.
But, why should I ever pay off a debt
If I don't know where exactly the ticket is kept.

I have thought to myself if I had an accident
Where would my ticket or bail be sent,
And if in the accident I had surely died
My sins committed would not have been denied,
If I didn't pay off a ticket I might had went to jail
And if I don't pay off my soul I am going straight to hell.
