My Dream Of Dreams Poem by Alexander Beebe

My Dream Of Dreams

I took a journey through my mind
in search of dreams I've yet to find.
The abstract pictures seem so clear
with traces of clouds both far and near.

Hallways stretching beyond my sight
with doors of red, blue and white.
Window seals with flowered vases
and figurines with painted faces.

Another room just down the hall
resembles all the colors of the fall.
Orange, brown yellow and green
with flocks of birds near gentle streams.

My mind it takes me farther down
to trapeze artists and funny clowns.
Horse back riders go round and round
my vision is clear but they make no sound.

Farther yet I walk inside to find a field of wheat
the smell of honey all around makes the air so sweet.
I take a look into a well with coy fish swimming by
reflections from above my head show eagles as they fly.

Another room was at the beach
with ships and sailboats far out of reach.
Kids with buckets filled with sand
and ocean watchers with golden tans.

What a grand and glorious place to ease my tired mind.
No telling what's in store for me in other rooms that I may find.
It seems my dreams are often fed from all these rooms inside my head.
I have no fear of what I find, no need to cry or run and hide.

I took a journey through my mind
in search of dreams I've yet to find.
And when I awoke to morning's light
my dream of dreams seemed oh so nice.
