My Eyes Are Dry Poem by Doris Cornago

My Eyes Are Dry

Rating: 5.0

My eyes are dry, but in silence

I cry out loud through fingers

Running through keys

Unfaltering in my grief, unceasing…

Love be not silent, love be alive

Choices are made, coins exchanged

Hands, what is yours, which is mine

Nothing much is lost but time passing…

I laugh in my grief as one insane

My chest to bursting who’s to blame

There’s something I want but beyond

Reach, nothing is left in the dying sun…

If you have life and know it still

If you have voice and will

If you have strength enough

If you have eyes and seen enough…

Walk the path and speak of it well

Do not run and hide

Do not cheat with pretense

Get exposed, be counted, be there…

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is written for that person who counted the most but counted himself out. There is much frustration when you cannot see beyond a person's outer appearance - this sums up the poem. A reunion is much awaited but when you meet, there is so much pretense, words are left unsaid. What questions you have in your mind before the meeting are left unanswered. Families often gather annually to be 'together' as in holiday seasons. This might be the only occasion they may have in this lifetime, but they let time pass away. The same goes for a rendezvous with someone with whom you have not spoken to for a long time. The meeting falls flat because there's a wall that cannot be breached.

Words of poem are so very comforting. I found it all very soothing. The words are truly poetic. Congratulation! ! ! For making my day.

Thank you Christina. My grief diminishes when someone else finds comfort.: -)

A wall that cannot be breached- a very accurate description to that lack of understanding in their eyes. A lovely poem, and a lovely description. Thanks for sharing.
